Recently Greenpoint Construction Group Pty Ltd received Practical Completion. With some sadness, this signals the end of what has been an extremely rewarding project.
Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) has now fully occupied the school. The visible excitement (already experienced) of students wanting to use the new facilities, in itself, made this project extremely rewarding.
Greenpoint was initially engaged for via Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) (early in 2021). Working alongside the Consultant team through design development, we provided cost, programme and buildability advice. Following DA approval, the ECI engagement was converted to a D&C Lump Sum Contract, prior to works commencing on site early in 2022.
In order to keep the School, safely and effectively operational throughout the whole project, a significant amount of planning and programming (including development of workable methodologies) was undertaken in conjunction with the stakeholders, Aspect and Client PM, Construction Assignments. The majority of this planning (resulting in a programme comprising 3 separate stages) was undertaken during the ECI process. This early planning was clearly "the secret to the success" of the project. Each stage was successfully completed and handed over within the timeframes agreed. The extensive planning, programming and stakeholder engagement/approval would not have been as successful, had it not been for the ECI process and is therefore clear testament to the benefits of that process.
Greenpoint would like to thank all subcontractors and consultants for your involvement in the project, in particular the late nights and weekends spent ensuring the design and delivery met the brief.
In addition, our gratitude goes to our fabulous Client Aspect and in particular the staff at Vern Barnett School as well as the VB students and families. Your patience, understanding and flexibility on the ground was very much appreciated.
Lastly, a very special thank you to Client PMs Construction Assignments. Your efforts in fostering a ‘true teamwork’ approach, from the outset, was clearly a big part of the project’s ultimate success. We have now completed several projects together and each time our respect and admiration for your team grows!
